Around the Rainbow

Writing, thoughts and feelings, with a little randomness

Back In Anime Time – Part 1

There were many anime shows that I saw when I was younger that really got me into the anime world. I really want to go into the four main animes part by part. The first one being:

Sailor Moon

When I was younger this anime was probably the biggest one that got me into anime in general. There was a group of girls that I went to school with and we shared the mangas, books, thoughts on episodes, and we even pretended we were the characters on the play ground (It feels like it was yesterday. I was Sailor Jupiter). What really got me into Sailor Moon was the manga. I remember though the first one I read was way into the series. Usagi and Mamoru were already together, Chibi Chibi Moon made an appearnce and those three girls that disguised themselves as a boy band were in it (I can’t remember what they were called, but I remember them).

As for the show, after season two, I didn’t follow it as much. I can’t remember why, but I know I didn’t. So as of now, I’m rewatching the series, but I’m watching English subbed. I feel like watching it dubbed I’d be missing something, and now that I’m older I know they edited it. Even though I don’t know how closely the series follows the manga, I would love to see Chibi Chibi Moon and those three other fighters in the anime.

The big thing for me and Sailor Moon, is the artwork. I just look at it and see all it’s beauty and magic in one image. And seeing that in the drawing makes me want to watch the series, so I can see it in action. Does that make sense?

Like this beauty.

I would also love to see how my older mind sees it. I was very young when it came on, but I was also young when I read the manga, and saw that these three guys transformed into girls. To be honest it didn’t phase me in the least, and still doesn’t. But that doesn’t mean I had any clue as to what was actually going on. I’ve heard rumors they took the show off American television because of the homosexual themes and it got to risky for young American audiences, and that the last two seasons I belive aren’t dubbed. That’s fine with me. I just know I’d love to finish this series and be immersed into this magical world again like when I was younger.
